Preseason Noiiiizzze!
In 'da house!
Last night C and I went to the Broncos game vs the Texans. We were impressed with:
- The relative rowdiness of the fans at Mile High! The fans were into the game and cheering for the defense (almost) like it was a regular season game.
- Javon Walker! Great speed, good hands. He and Rod Smith will be a dynamic duo.
- The 1st team defense! I just read that they have yet to give up a touchdown to a 1st team offense. I'm hoping we are looking forward to a strong defensive year.
- Tony Scheffler! Nice hands.
- Jay Cutler! Ok, he wasn't as spectacular as last week vs. Tennessee, but he has THIS Optimist thinking good thoughts about years ahead ...
- Texan's coach, and former Broncos quarterback and offensive coordinator, Gary Kubiak. He made sure we all knew which team he was on by throwing in the red flag in the first quarter, questioning whether the Broncos completed a first down or not ... He showed us all that he's not on our side anymore. Thought that was an assertive move, although maybe over-zealous. Anyway, good for him (even if he was wrong). And that's the last nice thing I'm gonna say about him.
Things we weren't so impressed with:
- The red zone defense. C'mon guys! To quote the Black Eyed Peas ... "Where is the Love?"
- Jason Elam. I'm hoping he's just phoning it because he's a seasoned veteran and this is the preseason. I'm REALLY hoping he hasn't passed his prime.
- Rain. For the second week in a row, I have sat in the rain with one of my children. It wasn't all that bad, but gimme a break! I mean, I can pretty much count on sitting in adverse weather in November and December ... but August!??
- They don't play that Gary Glitter song, "HEY!" after scoring. What's up with that? I'm hoping it's just a preseason thing - that they only play the "HEY!" song for real scores??? We will find out, since I've called the Broncos ticket office and asked them (they're checking with the stadium team). I'll post their answer once I get it.
- Denver Broncos Cheerleaders. Dang cookie cutter cuties. They even look cute with their hair wet, unlike ME.

I'm dying to know what's going on with the Rock and Roll song or whatever, the Gary Glitter song. I always think of it as the Dr. Who song. Dr. Whooo ooo, Hey! Dr. Who! The guy behind me at the Titans game told me it was because the NFL doesn't want him to make royalties anymore. Because he's a sexual perv. So, I guess it makes sense. But we've kind of know that about Gary Glitter for a while now and it kind of smacks of 'nipplegate' censorship, although it's pretty hard to fight against taking money away from a pedophiliac skirt-wearing yellow bellied british wanker.
Don't you figure the song is in the public domain though? I wouldn't think he'd be receiving royalties for it, but what do I know?
So, how long do you think I should wait for a reply before I nag them again? I still haven't heard back from the Broncos ticket office ...
I'm tempted to email Drew Soicher on 9NEWS or something ... Maybe I will.
